The Bermondsey Joyriders - Flamboyant thugs


It's only a month since The Bermondsey Joyriders released their double A side single "Brian Jones (The real true leader of the rolling stones)/Johnny Thunders was a human being", and now they're releasing their third album.  Surprisingly considering how recently the single was released, the songs from it don't appear on the album - probablyIt's only a month since The Bermondsey Joyriders released their double A side single "Brian Jones (The real true leader of the rolling stones)/Johnny Thunders was a human being", and now they're releasing their third album.  Surprisingly considering how recently the single was released, the songs from it don't appear on the album – probably the first time in recent years I've seen a band release a single ahead of the album launch without the single being on the album.  Slightly unusual then, but that does mean that the album contains 12 new tracks rather than 10 new ones plus 2 that fans have already got on the single. Whether or not you've heard of The Bermondsey Joyriders before, the members of this punk-blues trio are all experienced musicians – Gary Lammin (vocals / guitar) and Martin Stacey (bass) played  in the Joe Strummer-produced Little Roosters and Generation X precursors Chelsea respectively, while Chris Musto (drums) has previously played with Johnny Thunders, Joe Strummer and Nico. Musically there's a real old-school punk sound for some of the songs such as "Flamboyant thugs", whereas other songs blend in more blues or rock'n'roll leading them to sound like a cross between the [...]
