Belfast mourns death of punk singer

Belfast's punk community has been devastated by the sudden death of one of the scene's most colourful characters, Colin McQuillan, vocalist with Runnin' Riot. Colin died in his sleep on Monday, while the band were in the middle of a UK tour with The Old Firm Casuals (the band fronted by Rancid guitarist/vocalist Lars Frederiksen).  He wasBelfast's punk community has been devastated by the sudden death of one of the scene's most colourful characters, Colin McQuillan, vocalist with Runnin' Riot. In a statement on their Facebook page, the remaining members of Runnin' Riot paid tribute to their fallen friend: "Anyone who knew Colin knows his passion for music and his love for Runnin' Riot and our family / fans.  Sleep well mate." While Monday's gig in Manchester was understandably cancelled, The Old Firm Casuals have gone on to complete the rest of the scheduled tour dates.
