If you have not heard about Psyyke before, this band just might prove it once again. Finnish gothic post-punk band, Psyyke, have just released their compilation "1983-1985". "1983-1985" is a set of 16 various thirty year old tracks, 14 of them picked up from the band's demo tapes. The other two tracks, "Temppeli" and "Neondertal" were released on 7 inch single in late 1983, perhaps some Psyyke fans may even still have them. Due to their overall quality, it's no surprise that these two songs are the first to be heard in the compilation. Fast, fun and darkly punkish, they are remarkable tracks that hopefully inspire you to dig deeper into what this band has to offer. The compilation varies from slower and darker post-punk, psychedelic tracks to more straigh forward punkish ones. All of them have that distinct raw sound you would expect from thirty year old demo tapes. While the quality may not be the best, that does not stop you enjoying it any less and dreaming back to the old times, when tapes were still an enormous treasure for any music lover.
