Complementing their recent limited-edition vinyl-only 12" split with Winterfylleth, mysterious Ukrainian death metallers Drudkh have again delved into their archive of rarities for this short compilation, which features tracks from their 2007 EP 'Anti-Urban' and a brace of covers from the 'Slavonic Chronicles' offering of three years later. It also contains the three tracks theyComplementing their recent limited-edition vinyl-only 12" split with Winterfylleth, mysterious Ukrainian death metallers Drudkh have again delved into their archive of rarities for this short compilation, which features tracks from their 2007 EP 'Anti-Urban' and a brace of covers from the 'Slavonic Chronicles' offering of three years later. It also contains the three tracks they contributed to the aforementioned split, making them available on CD for those unable to track down that particular collectors' item. Ironically, the only two original songs here, both drawn from the aforesaid 'Anti-Urban' opus minor, are the weakest contributions: monotonic, nihilistic instrumentals, they lack focus or direction and fail to ignite, with 'Ashes' in particular ruined by the inclusion of its annoying click track (and it's rather abrupt ending). On the other hand, 'Tam Gdzie Gasnie Dzien' – the first of two Sacrilegium covers in this particular package – is an epic broiling, seething mass of dark metallic fury, darker and denser than the forests of eastern Europe, while 'Indiánská Písen Hruzy' (originally by Czech experimental occultists Master's Hammer in 1995) is an interesting if unimaginatively interpreted and dated sounding slice of progenetic blackened progressiveness.
